We have proposed a novel erbium-doped fiber ring laser (EDFRL) using a cascaded-chirped long period fiber grating (C-CLPG) as a wavelength selection element, in which a variable optical attenuator (VOA) has been inserted into the ring cavity in order to extend the range of a temperature measurement. From the investigation of the oscillation characteristics of the laser, it was found that the wavelength range can be shifted by controlling the VOA so that the measurement range can be extended. In addition, the expansion of the measurement range have been effectively realized by applying numerical processing. |
