In this paper, we study a position estimation method of location of sources of radio noise and radio interference based on received signal strength. In the method, we assume a spatial distribution model of received signal strength. Using the measured signal strength at multiple positions, the location of the source is estimated by fitting the model to the measured data so that the mean square error is minimized. The position estimation performance of the method was evaluated by performing simulations and experiments for different positions of the signal source. In addition, since the method does not consider directional pattern of a transmitting antenna, we extend the method to take the pattern of the transmitting antenna into account. The position estimation performance was confirmed by performing simulation using a horizontally polarized half-wave dipole antenna and evaluating the estimation error. |
