Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) To quantify skin aging caused by ultraviolet light exposure (i.e. photo-aging), photoacoustic images of human skin sections in various stages of photo-aging were obtained. The upper dermis in these sections were measured by acoustic resolution photoacoustic microscopy at the wavelength of visible light region. The relation between stages of photo-aging and the intensity of photoacoustic signal was investigated. Furthermore, t-test was conducted between each stage. The result clarified that the PA signal increases significantly as photo-aging progresses (p < 0.01). These analyses demonstrate that photoacoustic imaging is effective in evaluating photo-aging.
