The loss budget improvement based on optical amplification has been studied for reduction of the number of central offices. From the perspective of reducing capital and operational expenditure, it is important to realize unrepeated configuration in which optical amplifiers are consolidated to the OLT side. In this paper, we report the loss budget improvement for the 10G-class passive optical network (PON) by applying low noise distributed Raman amplification (DRA). |
