Wavelength characteristics of Nb2O5 horizontal SiO2 slot waveguides with vertical grating.

(in English) The slot waveguide structures consists of a low-refractive-index medium in a narrow region sandwiched between two high-refractive-index media which can be strongly confined in the narrow slot region. As a result, highly sensitive sensor elements can be realized by combining the slot waveguides and wavelength-dependent structures such as grating structures, micro-ring resonators, and DBR resonators. In our previous work, we have been studied horizontal slot waveguides using Nb2O5 materials as high index materials of the slot waveguide structures which can be realized boundary surfaces with low roughness. In this paper, we examined vertical grating structures as a waveguide structure which combined with Nb2O5 horizontal slot waveguide for the sensor applications. The wavelength characteristics with stop-band of the fabricated devices were reported.
