Optical phased array (OPA) is a non-mechanical beam-steering device, which has been under intense study in recent years due to its high-speed operation and lower power consumption. While a number of experimental demonstrations have been reported at 1.55 m wavelength range by using Si or InP devices, 1 μm wavelength range is widely used for LiDAR and bio-imaging applications. Here, we consider an OPA device, which employs GaAs as the core layer and InGaP as the cladding layer, in order to realize beam-steering operation at 1 μm wavelength range. We decide each parameter from numerical simulations and design a 1×25 OPA circuit with a compact footprint. |
