A Double-Flux-Quantum Amplifier (DFQA) is a superconducting voltage multiplier that can generate a high-precision voltage based on the AC Josephson effect. Taking advantage of this feature, we have used it as a voltage multiplier in a superconducting Digital-to-Analog converter based on a Single Flux Quantum (SFQ) circuit. Since the output voltage generated at a DFQA depends on the frequency of input SFQ pulse train, high-speed performance should be required for a high-output DFQA. In this study, we tested a DFQA fabricated using a Nb 10-kA/cm2 integration process, which was expected to operate four times higher than those previously fabricated using a Nb 2.5-kA/cm2 process. The tested DFQA was laid out so that 19 three-junction loops, basic components of a DFQA, were connected in series to realize a voltage multiplication factor of 20-fold. As a result of measurements using liquid helium, it was confirmed that 20-fold multiplication was correctly performed up to input frequencies of 70.9 and 61.1 GHz for the positive and negative voltage, respectively. |
