The characteristics of the 16-element superconducting nanostrip single photon detector (SSPD) was evaluated with the aim of improving the response speed. The 16-element SSPD was designed and fabricated so that 16 NbTiN nanostrips with a line width of 100 nm are arranged in an interleaved structure with a photo sensitive area of 15 um × 15 um square. As result of evaluation of the photon response characteristics by mounting in a package that can realize high-efficiency photocoupling and, single photon response was observed in all 16 elements, and the total system detection efficiency at a wavelength of 1550 nm was confirmed to be 75.9%. In addition, high speed operation characteristic was also evaluated by mounting a 16-element SSPD and SFQ merger circuit in a cryocooler and photons with a time interval of 1 nsec, which was much shorter than the dead time of SSPD, was able be separately observed. |
