Examination of Network Topology Information Acquisition Method in Wireless Mesh SDN

(in English) A wireless mesh network is constructed with multiple aircrafts equipped with wireless communication devices. A centralized SDN controller on the ground is adopted to control traffic routing efficiently and flexibly. In such a wireless mesh SDN environment, each node needs an available route to the SDN controller. In case of mesh link failure, ad-hoc routing protocol is utilized together with OpenFlow protocol. However, duplicated control packets of the two protocols increase the overhead and waste valuable wireless bandwidth resource. Therefore, we focus on the network topology information acquisition process and propose a network topology information acquisition method that can reduce overhead by optimizing the usage of control packet. The overhead reduction effect of the proposed method is shown by comparison of our proposal and the existing method.
