A reversible data hiding method with high flexibility in compressive encrypted images

(in English) In this paper, we propose a reversible data hiding method in encrypted images, where both the com-pression efficiency and hiding capacity are carefully considered. The proposed scheme first divides the original imageinto region of interest (ROI) and non-region of interest (non-ROI). In ROI, an encryption-then-compression (EtC)system is used for encryption and a histogram shifting based method is adopted for data hiding. Accordingly, ROIcan be compressed after encryption and also be decrypted without extracting the hidden data. In contrast, an MSBprediction based method is introduced in non-ROI. MSB replacement and XOR operation are used for data hidingand encryption, respectively, and there exit several features to correctly predict the original MSB in this method. Thehiding rate in non-ROI results in around 1 bpp. Experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed methodin terms of hiding capacity and lossless compression efficiency.
