Basic Study of Machine Learning for Underwater Location Estimation System Using Electromagnetic Waves

(in English) Water-related accidents are occurring all over the world. In Japan, water accidents occur approximately 1,300 per year. Divers are expected to do rescue operations in marine accidents. However, there are various risks such as floating objects in the sea and hypothermia. An underwater position estimation system using VLF band radio waves has been studied to support rescue operations by positioning divers in the sea. In this report, as a basic study for introducing machine learning into the 3D underwater position estimation system using electromagnetic waves, we used four supervised machine learning models for underwater position estimation and compared the results of each model. The best model was MLP, and it is confirmed that there is no problem in real-time computation time for all models.
