Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In the 5th generation mobile communication system and beyond, the importance of relay transmission increases in order to provide wide coverage of the high speed and high quality data transmission using higher carrier frequency band such as millimeter wave band. Assuming the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO)-orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) transmission as a baseline of the 5G system, mitigation of its high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) not only at the base station (BS) transmitter but also at the relay station (RS) transmitter is essential to achieve sufficient coverage enhancement from the usage of RS by reducing the transmission power backoff levels at the nonlinear power amplifier. In this paper, we propose to apply our previously reported adaptive PAPR reduction method using null space in MIMO channel for MIMO-OFDM transmission to RS. In this work, we assume an amplify-and-forward (AF)-type RS with multiple antennas. Computer simulation results show that PAPR-vs.-throughput is much improved by the proposed system compared to the conventional one thanks to the reduced interference levels from the PAPR reduction signal observed at the user terminal receiver.
