Field reconstruction of optical OFDM signals using temporal transport-of-intensity equation
Masayuki Matsumoto (Wakayama Univ.) OCS2021-5
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Optical signal phase reconstruction based on temporal transport-of-intensity equation is a non-iterative complex-field retrieval method in a direct-detection (DD) receiver, which is expected to be useful for a low-cost high-speed data transmission system. This paper analyzes its performance for field reconstruction of optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals. Results show that (1) reconstruction error generated in the TIE solution process appears in low-frequency region of the signal close to the carrier so that subcarriers adjacent to the carrier are heavily damaged, and (2) better performance is obtained by not using subcarriers close to the carrier in the DD-OFDM system using TIE.
