A Study on Fast Nondestructive Measurement of the Complex EM-parameters of Absorbers

(in English) Due to the intrinsic merits such as wideband and nondestructiveness, open-ended-probes are widely used for the measurement of EM-parameters of materials. In previous study, an open-ended-probe-based Two-Thickness-Method(TTM) is proposed for simultaneously measuring the complex permittivity and permeability of a sheet absorber. However, since a theoretical model based on the spectral domain method is adopted, the conventional TTM cannot be applied in case that the sizes of flange and material under test are finite. Although such kind models can be measured if numerical methods such as FEM, FDTD are applied, the measurement method becomes too time-consuming to be used as an in-situ one. To overcome these drawbacks, this paper proposes a novel theoretical model using a neural network (ANN). Experiments are conducted to confirm the effectiveness and validity of the proposed measurement method.
