Development of simultaneous design method for multiple truss structures using GPSA

(in English) Truss structures are used in various fields such as architecture and aerospace engineering. Previous studies have revealed that the multiple optimal solutions coexist in the truss structure design problems when the structure consists of a large number of truss members. However, well-known optimization algorithms cannot discover multiple solutions in a single trial. In previous study, the authors proposed a simple algorithm called gravitational particle swarm algorithm (GPSA) which can discover multiple solutions in a single trial. In this paper, we design multiple optimal truss structures by GPSA.The result shows that GPSA can discover multiple truss structures during a single trial, and that it is superior to particle swarm optimization even in terms of obtained fitness values.
