Relationship between Amplitude and Spatial Resolutions for Massive MIMO

(in English) One of the major technologies for 5G mobile systems is massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system. In order to reduce power consumption, we analyze the effect of quantization errors when using low-resolution analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) in a massive MIMO system. The simulation results reveal that lower bit error rates (BERs) can be achieved by enhancing the number of receiving antennas than by increasing the number of quantization bits with accurate channel estimation information (CSI) when the total number of quantization bits is the same. We also clarify that it is necessary to calculate the channel bit log-likelihood ratios (LLRs) for the low-density parity-heck (LDPC) code taking the power of quantization errors into consideration.
