Conventionally, the optimal design of TWT has been carried out by 2D axisymmetric simulation based on the theory of TWT operation. Recently, with the performance advances of computers, it has been possible to apply simulation using general-purpose 3D simulation software to the design of TWT. However, there are problems to be solved in order to practically apply it to the optimal design of TWT. In this paper, we propose a new optimal design method by using 3D numerical simulation for pillbox windows and electron guns obtained through activities to establish the optimal design method of helix TWT by 3D numerical simulation. |
