Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) To ensure the smooth running of automobile on public roads, systematic control of traffic signal offsets is necessary. We have been investigating the optimal offset pattern search using genetic algorithms (GAs). In this study, we focused on the initial population generation method of GA. For the initial population, the offset pattern is generated using the standard road length that can be calculated from the cycle length and driving speed. In addition, an offset pattern is generated by adding a uniform value to the offsets of all intersections, and a total of 30 individuals are used as the initial population to search for a better solution.
