In high frequency bands like millimeter wave, antennas might be formed on wiring layers of ICs. We assume to use patch antennas. If the wiring layer is extremely thinner than wavelength of the millimeter wave, the attenuation is increased. In order to reduce the attenuation, we propose a stacked patch antenna consisting of an exciting element on a thin layer and a parasitic element on a dielectric substrate. The calculation result exhibits that the attenuation can be mitigated even if conditions of the thin layer are unchanged. Additionally, we calculate performances of a single layer patch. The attenuation and the bandwidth are compared. |
