A Study on Generating Bidirectional CCN Traffic Using a Programmable Switch

(in English) This paper addresses a Tbps-scale Content-Centric Networking (CCN) traffic generator because a CCN router design that achieves 10 Tbps forwarding has recently emerged.
We present emph{ccnGen}, which generates request-response CCN traffic bidirectionally, using a programmable switch.
To emulate a traffic scenario with a large variety of content names by ccnGen, we design a name generation pipeline that generates billion content names for request packets from a combination of name parts that are stored on small SRAM devices.
A prototype implementation with a realistic Tofino switch demonstrates that one pipeline of the switch ASIC generates Interest packets of $2^{32}$ 64 byte names randomly with a uniform distribution and another one replies to the Interest packets by sending Content Object packets with the requested names at 1.6 Tbps speed.
