In this report, we investigated appropriate parameter values for reconstructing a dynamical system using delay-coordinate systems. In particular, we calculated the distances between the inter-point distance distributions of the actual and reconstructed attractors through the Jensen-Shannon (JS) divergence by varying the reconstruction dimension and time-delay exhaustively. As a result, we found that the JS divergence is minimized when the product of the reconstruction dimension and the time-delay keeps a small constant value. In addition, we calculated the entropy of the inter-point distance distribution on the reconstructed attractor. As a result, we found that the combinations of reconstruction dimension and time-delay that minimize JS divergence roughly correspond to the combinations of reconstruction dimension and time-delay that maximize entropy. |
