EEG style transfer for sleep stage scoring using deep learning

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Sleep stage scoring is a clinical inspection to identify in which sleep stages the patients are from their biological signals.
Several automated sleep stage scoring systems based on machine learning have been proposed, but their accuracies are quite low in some cases; the difference in the biological signals caused by noise or individual differences leads to decrease the scoring accuracy of these systems.
In this study, we developed a signal transformation technique based on the style transfer to reduce the biological signal components that lead low scoring accuracies and to enhance the components that are necessary for sleep stage scoring.
Our method suppressed some signal components unnecessary for stage scoring, but didn't improve the performance of the existing stage scoring model.
