Relatively strong electromagnetic fields are produced in the vicinity of wireless power transfer (WPT) systems for electric vehicles (EVs) using frequencies at 85 kHz band and it is necessary to assess human exposure due to electromagnetic near-fields of the WPT system to satisfy safety standards. Although various numerical analysis methods have been used to assess exposure of WPT devices, an experimental assessment method by measuring has been rarely discussed. In this paper, for measuring the induced electric-field in a human-body, an electric-optical (EO) probes immersed inside the liquid phantom simulating a biological tissue is calibrated using a sheathed dipole antenna at 85 kHz. In addition, the induced electric-field is measured using calibrated EO probes. The measuring results are compared with analysis results. Finally, suitable size and position of the liquid phantom used for exposure assessments of WPT devices for EVs are considered using electro-magnetic simulation. |
