Wireless relay transmission using adaptive transmission schemes in multiple antenna environments

(in English) MIMO transmission, which utilizes multiple transmit and receive antennas, is an essential technology for realizing ultrahigh-speed communications. However, if MIMO transmission is applied to a wireless relay network consisting of wireless terminals with various numbers of antennas, the maximum transmission performance may not be achieved because all the antennas and other resources cannot be maximized due to the constraint of the number of antennas. In this paper, we propose a new relay transmission scheme that maximizes the utilization of all antenna resources in a multi-antenna wireless relay environment. The proposed scheme adaptively selects the best transmission scheme from SISO, SIMO, MISO, STBC, MIMO, SM, etc. based on the channel conditions and the number of transmitting and receiving antennas in each relay stage to maximize the end-to-end communication performance. The performance of the proposed scheme is investigated using the communication channel capacity and the effectiveness is confirmed.
