A Study on Local 5G System using Satellite Backhaul

(in English) The fifth generation mobile communications (5G), a critical Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure, is predicted to cover the whole country rapidly. 5G technologies-based private 5G (local 5G) is also considered and expected to solve problems in the industries. Private 5G usually requires optical fiber backhaul connections, but satellite links can be an alternative backhaul link for the area of deficient in terrestrial networks and also a backup link in the case of the disasters. This study discusses the effect of the characteristics of the satellite links and the network slicing on private 5G systems. We also show the result of the connection test of a private 5G system using satellite backhaul.
