Performance Evaluation on Auto Tuned MPI Communication

(in English) In parallel applications, a significant amount of execution time is spent on exchanging data between processes. MPI (Message Passing Interface) is one of the essential programming tools for communication within parallel applications. MPI program users make efforts to reduce communication overhead as much as possible, but the performance of the communication library itself is largely dependent on the MPI library developers. Therefore, we would like to use an MPI implementation and a corresponding configuration that is as fast as possible. In datacenters, the optimum implementation and configuration are selected and introduced according to the network device and system scale. In this context, we propose using an auto-tuning method to explore an optimum environment from a large searching space for a target MPI application. Accordingly, the application execution time is significantly improved within a given reasonable time interval.
