Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Road traffic functions as an important infrastructure that supports the activities of the nation and its people, and traffic control plays an important role in facilitating and ensuring the safety of vehicular traffic on roads. Currently, there is a lot of research on methods to appropriately manipulate the control parameters of traffic signals for the purpose of road traffic facilitation, but the observation targets of such research are limited to vehicles and pedestrian traffic is not considered in many cases. In the real world, the interference between vehicles and people forms the traffic situation, so it is important to consider pedestrians. In this paper, we propose a new method for traffic signal split control based on parameter control, which aims to improve pedestrian traffic flow by incorporating pedestrian traffic in addition to vehicular traffic. A micro traffic simulator, SUMO, is used in the study to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method in reducing the loss time of pedestrians.
