[Invited Talk] Enhancement of plant physiological functions by AC electric field application and elucidation of the mechanism of action

(in English) It has long been known that the application of pulsed, direct, or alternating electric fields to plants can elicit physiological responses such as growth promotion. However, the mechanism of the physiological responses has not been fully elucidated. In this talk, it was explained that some examples of plant growth promotion and heavy metal tolerance improvement by applying AC electric field. In addition, we will discuss the correlation between the intensity of the applied electric field and the electrical parameters of plant tissues, and the changes in gene responses induced by the application of AC electric fields using molecular biological techniques.
