Evaluation of Denture Confirmation Management RFID System Using Simple Phantom Model

(in English) In recent years, RFID systems have been widely used in the medical field to ameliorate life of patients. In the field of dental care wireless tags are implanted to dentures and used for confirmation of dentures. If dentures are accidentally swallowed or lost, it is necessary to distinguish between the in-body and out-body and figure out the location of the dentures. We have proposed a RFID system that can communicate in in-body/out-body by using different frequencies and developed a wireless tag that can communicate at 920 MHz in-body and 5.02 GHz out-body. In this paper, we created a simple phantom model to simulate the denture in the oral cavity and measured the 920 MHz and 5.02 GHz communication ranges in in-body using this model. As a result, it was found that at 920 MHz, communication was possible over almost the entire circumference of the head, even at 100 mm from the body surface. It was also found that communication was not possible at 5.02 GHz over the entire circumference of the simplified phantom model.
