An Initial Study on Display-to-Camera Communication Systems Using Adversarial Attack on CNN Depth Estimation Model

(in English) Hidden screen-camera communication requires visual quality and robust communication performance. In this study, we demonstrate hidden screen-camera communication system using adversarial attack on CNN depth estimation model and evaluate visual and communication performance. An adversarial attack on CNN depth estimation model can change the output of CNN model while not being seen by human vision system. We take advantage of the adversarial attack to embed data into the output of CNN depth estimation model so that we can achieve hidden screen-camera communication. For an initial study, we clarify potential of system by evaluating performance while assuming that there are no noises or distortions by displays or cameras.
