A Clustering Algorithm Based on Cluster Head Competition for WSNs

(in English) LEACH is the famous routing method for reducing the overhead required for communication in order to realize power saving of sensor networks. However, since the CHs (Cluster Heads) of LEACH are randomly selected, an isolated node with no CH may arise or a node that cannot deliver data to the sink may be selected as a CH. To solve the problems, this paper proposes a method that expands a reachable cluster from the sink node by the cluster head competition. The results of the simulation experiments show that the number of isolated nodes in the proposed method decreases, but the power consumption increases from LEACH.
