Demonstration of Photodiode-Integrated 8x8 Array-Antenna Module for Analog-RoF

(in English) An 8×8 40-GHz beamforming antenna module integrated with PD and RF circuits was developed and demonstrated with the combination of A-RoF MFH transmission, for the first time. Two channels of 380.16 MHz 64-QAM OFDM signals compliant with 3GPP were transmitted over a 20-km A-RoF link and a free-space of 3-m with our developed antenna module. It was confirmed that EVM values were less than 8% for all main beam directions between ±50 degrees, and satisfied the criteria specified in the 3GPP. In addition, the dynamic range of the input optical power was more than 7 dB. The results showed the potential of A-RoF-based MFH architecture with beamforming antenna modules for high-speed 5G mobile communication systems.
