For array antenna development, coupling coefficients are required to be as low as possible. We consider using an antenna element with two different degenerated modes to cancel their coupling. In this study, we focus on the TE11 and TM11 modes of the spherical dielectric resonator. These two resonant modes can be degenerated by loading a center conductor of appropriate radius. In addition, we designed the equivalent radiation by the hemispherical dielectric resonator with a mirror surface because the spherical dielectric resonator is difficult to feed. The mirror surface must be the electrical wall in the TE11 mode and the magnetic wall in the TM11 mode. The artificial magnetic conductor formed by a dielectric substrate with a slit structure on the ground plane was adopted for this purpose. The design frequency of the antenna was set to 5.8 GHz. The results of the analysis using electromagnetic field simulation confirmed that the two resonant modes can be degenerated regardless of the thickness of the dielectric substrate. |
