Detecting symptom of dementia based on features of pupil light reflex on both eyes
Minoru Nakayama (Tokyo Tech.), Wioletta Nowak, Anna Zarowska (Wroclaw Univ. S&T) MBE2022-16
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Waveforms of pupil light reflex (PLR) on both eyes in response to blue and red light pulses for either eye were observed to extract reaction features to classify participants into three levels of dementia which were diagnosed with a dementia test. Pupillary oscillation was also measured separately without light pulses.
The dementia level of participants was estimated using two regression functions which were optimised with variable section procedure for introduced features. The results show the features on both eyes and pupillary oscillation contribute on these regression functions. A prediction procedure for dementia levels of participants was presented.
