When an AC power supply is connected between two electrodes, resonance characteristics appear. For elastic wave devices such as quartz crystals, elastic wave filters, resonators, etc. have been devised and produced using this resonance phenomenon.
The same thing happens with electromagnetic waves: the electrode configuration is IDT of the SAW device. The electrodes are arranged at half-wavelength intervals in the direction of electromagnetic wave travel, and the applied voltage electrodes are set alternately with +, -. A large current flows at the resonance point of the resonance characteristics. A large current generates a magnetic field, and a magnetic field generates an electric field. Electromagnetic waves are continuously generated while repeating as many electrodes as the number of electrodes are repeated, leading to electromagnetic wave oscillation. |
