[Poster Presentation] Establishment of Experimental Environment for Underwater Image Sensor Communication Using Mirror Reflection
Maki Yasui, Shintaro Arai (Okayama Univ. of Sci.)
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In this study, we focus on underwater visible light communication (UVLC), especially underwater image sensor communication (UISC), which is the UVLC using a camera as a receiver. The camera receiver can easily separate the light from the transmitter and ambient lights from the captured image. We believe that UVLC is possible at the depth where sunlight can reach underwater by using this feature. The problem in evaluating the performance of the UISC is the experimental environment for the system. Unlike on the ground, the experiment can only be conducted in an environment with water. Furthermore, the communication distance cannot be easily extended because the range of water is limited. This study attempts to conduct the USIC experiment that extends the communication distance by the reflection of a mirror. We conduct experiments with and without mirrors to investigate the differences in captured images and communication performances and evaluate whether our method is appropriate for constructing the experimental environment for USIC on the ground.
