Pollination of mini-tomatoes is carried out by bumblebees released in the greenhouse.
Bee activity declines during the summer, so farmers need to perform manual pollination operation. The pollination work is a heavy burden for farmers. Therefore, we are conducting research and development of a smart agriculture system in which small drones perform pollination instead of bees. In this system, a small drone searches for flowers, and pollinates them by applying vibrations to the flowers. This paper proposes a drone flight control method using an artificial bee colony algorithm for flower search, which is a key to improve productivity. By designing an evaluation function that minimizes the evaluation value of the coordinate at which the flower is located, the proposed method treats flower localization as a minimum value search problem in swarm intelligence algorithms, and determines the flight path. Simulation evaluation shows that the proposed method enables a small drone to search for flowers enough. |
