[Poster Presentation] OFDM/PM Systems with Adaptive Filtering for Satellite Communications

(in English) OFDM/PM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing/Phase Modulation), also known as CE (Constant Envelope)-OFDM is an alternative modulation approach to OFDM for achieving multicarrier modulation and minimizing the Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR) by utilizing phase modulation. Utilizing OFDM/PM in satellite communications may avoid nonlinear distortion produced by the satellite power amplifier because a phase-modulated signal has a constant envelope. Generally, the use of adaptive filter-based equalization in receivers can improve the precision and reliability of satellite communications.
Therefore, we propose to introduce an LMS (Least Mean Square) and CMA (Constant Modulus Algorithm) based adaptive filtering for the OFDM / PM receiver to improve the BER (Bit Error Rate) performances in this study. We evaluate the BER performances of OFDM/PM systems with adaptive filtering for different modulation indexes of PM, and modulation schemes. Simulation results indicate that using a lower order of modulation scheme with adaptive filtering improves the BER performances.
