Radar Cross-Section Measurement of a Resin-made Scaled Model Coated with Conductive Paste

(in English) Radar cross-section (RCS) is an essential quantity in characterizing a target to be measured using radar systems. As radar sensing technologies are widely utilized commercially, RCS measurement demands are expected to increase substantially. RCS evaluation of a target requires numerical electromagnetic simulation and measurement of the object of interest. However, for designing a low-RCS product where the final product is unavailable, a test model must be employed to evaluate the effectiveness of the shape design in terms of RCS reduction. In this study, we determine and compare the RCS of a metallic and resin-made test model coated with conductive paste to demonstrate that a cost effective resin-made model can be used as a substitute for a metallic model. Moreover, we demonstrate that a miniature model can be used to evaluate the RCS of a large-scale model to further reduce the manufacturing cost of an RCS test model.
