This paper presents the 28 GHz band rectenna structure employed by a wire loop antenna for obtaining high rectification efficiency. The rectenna structure consists of a bridge rectifier and a small loop antenna integrated into GaAs MMIC. In addition, the small loop antenna is coupled magnetically with high radiation efficient wire loop antenna on the low-loss resin substrate. To demonstrate the rectenna structure, we design and prototype a 28 GHz band 10 mW-class rectenna composed of the wire loop antenna on an alumina substrate and bridge rectifier IC with 0.1um GaAs E-pHEMT gated anode diode. The prototyped rectenna gets a rectification efficiency of 67.2 % and an output voltage of 5.7 V at a received power of 15.7 dBm. The rectification efficiency of the rectenna is top performance compared with reported rectifiers from 20 GHz to 40GHz band. |
