Vital-Sign Tracking Method Using Modified CMA Adaptive Array

(in English) This paper proposes a modified beamforming method based on the CMA (Constant Modulus Algorithm) for MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) radar to track and detect a vital sign by blind processing. In this method, the beamforming weight is updated in real-time to remove the DC offset and make the phase variance correspond to the respiratory response in the output signal to consider the features of the vital sign. The proposed method is experimentally evaluated by comparing the heart rate estimation accuracy with the conventional beamforming method based on Maximal Ratio Combining and the CMA-like method. The experimental result showed that the average heart rate errors of the presented methods from the reference ECG (Electrocardiogram) were 11.1 bpm in the Maximal Ratio Combining, 10.5 bpm in the CMA-like method, and 3.47 bpm in the proposed modified CMA method, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed method.
