In recent years, the invention of wide bandgap semiconductor devices has made it possible to push the switching frequency of power converters to MHz. Therefore, the overall system size has been reduced. effectively. On the other hand, switching loss becomes higher at high frequencies. To solve this problem, the application of resonant converters with soft-switching characteristics has drawn scientific interest. On the other hand, the power loss generated by the equivalent series resistance of the resonant inductors is a major factor that reduces the conversion efficiency. Therefore, an optimized design method for the system, including inductor design, is required. In this research, we propose a new optimal design method for high-frequency resonant converters. Based on the heuristic algorithm, we propose a converter design that maximizes efficiency while achieving a target value of output voltage. The proposed design method allows simultaneous optimization of circuit parameters and magnetic elements. As an example design, a 0.75 kW, 4 MHz isolated push-pull class-E DC/DC converter was implemented. The results of circuit experiments were consistent with the numerical predictions, showing the validity of the proposed design method. |
