Proposal of Fairness Index Considering Wireless and Wired LAN

(in English) In recent years, the communication environment has been changing due to faster wireless communications and more sophisticated terminals. As a result, conventional performance improvement methods, congestion control methods, and performance fairness evaluation methods may not work effectively. In this study, we construct a state-of-the-art communication environment to understand the congestion and communication status of the line. We then deploy the congestion control middleware from previous studies on multiple Android terminals with different communication performance, and evaluate them from the perspective of total throughput and fairness. Next, based on the experimental results, we performed TCP tuning and proposed an improved version of the fairness evaluation index because a problem occurred in the fairness evaluation index in a heterogeneous environment. We then evaluate the proposed index in our experimental environment to demonstrate its effectiveness.
