A Study on Relative Permittivity Estimation for Human Body Using Two-Dimensional Electric Field Approximation

(in English) In recent years, there has been a growing demand for a simple and accurate method to estimate the moisture content of the human body for the prevention of heat stroke in hot and humid environments and for setting dry weights for chronic dialysis patients. Therefore, we focus on a body water content estimation method based on relative permittivity estimation by using radio waves, which is less affected by sweat on the human body surface than conventional impedance-based methods. In this study, we aimed to improve the accuracy of relative permittivity estimation by two-dimensional electric field approximation using the Hankel function. The superiority of the two-dimensional electric field approximation was demonstrated based on perfromance comaprison with one-dimensional electric field estimation with the plane wave propagation.
