An Implementation of Python Program for Feature Index Calculation of Still-Life Pencil Drawing in Art Education

(in English) For art educations to novice students, productions and evaluations of still-life pencil drawings are essential. Previously, we have proposed seven feature indexes to objectively evaluate them. Unfortunately, these indexes are calculated manually using various tools, which takes much time and efforts to handle a lot of drawings from many students. In this study, we implement a Python program using the OpenCV library that calculates feature indexes from scanned files of the still-life pencil drawings. Since the boundary of each motif is usually not clear in the pencil drawing, we manually detect the square region that contains it by a drawing software. For evaluations, we applied the implemented program to 37 still-life pencil drawings from students, and found that some of the seven feature indexes have high correlations with a part of subjective evaluation results by art teachers on them.
