Against the background of the European science and technology policy principle of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI), this study sought to verbalize the sociality of accomplished researchers by interviewing engineering researchers with proven track records in the field of information science. The presenter hypothesized that researchers' sociality varies depending on two factors: the progress of research in their field of expertise and chance events in their research history. The research results suggest that the progress of research in their field of expertise is a significant factor, despite the major limitation of the two cases.
