Comparative Study on the Radiation Characteristics of Square and Hexagonal Array Antennas

(in English) In this paper, the radiation patterns of two types of array antennas: square and hexagonal are studied. The main lobe shapes surrounded by the nulls are square for the square array and round for the hexagonal array, respectively. However, the shapes of the half power beam are round for both antennas. The first sidelobe level is -12.0 dB in φ = 0 and φ = 90 deg cuts, and -24.1 dB in φ = 45 deg cut for the square array, and -14.9 dB and -18.2 dB in φ = 0 and φ = 90 deg cuts for the hexagonal array, respectively. High sidelobes appear a cross or circle, respectively.
