Recently, an enhanced peak cancellation (PC) scheme with an in-band distortion compensation (IDC) for peak– to-average power ratio (PAPR) reduction in massive multi-input multi-output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (mMIMO-OFDM) with a uniform planar array (UPA). In this scheme, the beam-formed IDC signals are transmitted through the dedicated compensation antennas so that each user can receive their own data signals without being affected by any in-band distortion. In this article, we investigate a generalized minimum mean square error (MMSE)-based precoding and rate adaptation (modulation order selection) considering in-band distortion caused by peak cancellation and non-linear amplifier in mMIMO-OFDM systems. Simulation results show that the MMSE-based precoding is effective in improving bit error rate (BER) performance and average user rate compared with conventional schemes in mMIMO-OFDM with PC and IDC while instantaneous power at the complementary cumulative distribution function (CCDF) =$10^{-4}$ is reduced to 3 dB. |
