Application of a Silicon Photomultiplier Detector in Doppler LIDAR

(in English) The aim of this study was to increase the receiving sensitivity of Doppler LIDAR (LIght Detection And Ranging) in terms of photon detection level by using a high-sensitivity silicon photomultiplier (Si-PM) detector for measurement of distance and velocity. Doppler LIDAR measures the beat signal due to interference between transmitted light and received light to measure the Doppler frequency. In this paper, we propose a method for detecting the beat signal using a Si-PM detector. Furthermore, we report the successful measurement of the Doppler frequency generated by a linear motion system at constant velocity using the Si-PM detector.
