As over-the-rooftop propagation is dominant in an urban macrocell environment, the multi-screen diffraction model has been extensively investigated.
For fast and accurate prediction of over-the-rooftop propagation loss, the uniform theory of diffraction (UTD), Kirchhoff approximation (KA), and knife-edge diffraction model (KEDM) have been widely used.
In this tutorial, the derivations and simulations of the UTD, KA, and KEDM are reviewed for the multiple-diffraction problems.
The prediction examples of single- and double-diffraction losses are presented for comparison. |
